47th EOQ 2003 Congress

The 47th EOQ Congress was held 4 - 7. June 2003 in The Hague, Holland / Netherlands

Lou Magritzer reports:

Mr. Frank Steer, EOQ Chairman, gave the welcome address and he stated that the two European Quality Organizations, the EOQ and EFQM, plan to unite and see a single movement before the end of 2004. The name of this new Quality organization may very well turn out to be EQM, European Quality Movement. (Somewhat similar to the recently established Asian Quality Network, consisting of 10 foundation members from the Asian Quality organizations)

About 400 delegates from 41 countries registered for this annual event. Nearly half of all delegates registered from these for countries:

Somewhat lower figures came from each of the other 37 countries.

Twenty eight Delegates came from four Asian countries:

It appears that SARS took its toll as not one delegate came from China or Hongkong. I was the only attendee from Australia. It was a pleasure to present the obligatory introductory paper to my fellow members of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ) in this prominent Dutch city. (The Hague is the city of Justice and home of the International court, well known for its famous political and military inmates. accused of war crimes..)

The Congress Gala dinner was attended by merely 100 people who paid Euro 160 each. An amount no doubt too high for most of the other 300 congress delegates who stayed away.
