Mr Tan Pheng Hock is President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering), one of the largest companies, by market capitalisation, listed on the Singapore Exchange. ST Engineering is a global integrated engineering group that specialises in the fields of aerospace, electronics, land systems and marine.
Pheng Hock steers the company towards its vision by mapping clear, strategic directions for achieving long-term sustainability of ST Engineering through restructuring, transformation and globalisation. As one who values excellence, he shares his experiences on Business, Technological and Leadership Excellence with international participants, at seminars and conferences.
ST Engineering’s business spans across Asia, United States, Middle East, Europe, Australia, South America, and Africa. The proportion of sales from its commercial business has been increasing steadily from 43% in 2002 to 69% in 2006. The characteristics of the defense and commercial markets are influenced by their specific needs, key requirements, security sensitivity and operational plan.
Pheng Hock is actively engaged in the community. He is Chairman of the Singapore Workforce Development Agency and the Nanyang Polytechnic Board of Governors, and serves as Director on the boards of SembCorp Marine, Neptune Orient Lines, and Cradance Services. He is also a member of the NUS Department of Mechanical Engineering (Consultative Committee), Singapore Quality Award Governing Council and Temasek Defence Systems Institute.
ST Engineering was recently awarded the Singapore Quality Award with Special Commendation 2007 by the SQA Governing Council.
