Mangalika is a holder of BSc (Hon) in Science, MSc in Analytical Chemistry and MBA from the University of Colombo. She had obtained LLB and is now an Attorney-at-Law. She is also a Chartered Chemist, IRCA (UK) registered Lead Auditor and Fellow of the Sri Lanka Association for Quality (SLAQ).
She had served in Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) for many years promoting quality concepts in the industry as a trainer, auditor, and national quality award examiner and participated in management systems and product certification and national quality award programs. Her role as a standards engineer in developing national standards was rated high in promoting quality assurance in the industry.
Now Mangalika is an internationally qualified Lead Auditor and a trainer for auditing and training on quality, food safety, environment and occupational health and safety management systems & experience in auditing various Industries in many countries in the South East Asian Region. She is considered to be an effective auditor as she emphasizes on business improvement.
Her training in quality, food safety, HACCP, environment, OH&S, TQM, 5S, benchmarking, process improvement and social responsibility is highly recognized. She is successful as a trainer as she strongly believes that the people have potential and that can be modeled and fine tuned with proper training and guidance. She is responsible for developing and introducing Diploma program in Quality Management and also the certification program for quality technician level for SLAQ which is considered to be effective by the industry.
Her experience in working with a range of industry sectors such as food and agriculture, chemical, rubber, healthcare, hospitality, garment, cement, construction, hydro-power, education and software had made her a highly professional trainer and auditor.
She was the editor for news journals of the national standards institution and “Quality Today” and “Junior Quality Manager” of the SLAQ. These publications had significantly contributed to the quality awareness in the industry as well as among school children. Her editorial skills are demonstrated as many articles related to quality in above sectors and industries were published in national and international journals.
Mangalika was actively involved in establishing the Sri Lanka Association for Quality (SLAQ), which was a dire need to promote quality professionalism in the country and served in the Executive Committee for many years in various capacities. She was instrumental for organizing first International quality convention with APQO in 1999 in Sri Lanka and three more quality conventions subsequently which brought in many national quality initiatives in the country.
Now she is the managing partner of Quality International Certification Services (Pvt) Ltd (QICS) which provides accredited certification and Quality International Technical Services (Pvt) Ltd (QITS) which provides accredited training programs. QICS provides an opportunity for organizations to have access to certification and training with high degree of credibility and international recognition and focus on business improvement.
