  GPEA - CYCLE 2017

INTRODUCTION

The Global Performance Excellence Award (GPEA) is administered by the Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO). APQO is a non-profit organization that serves as an umbrella group that brings together all of the leading quality professional societies from countries that border on the Pacific Ocean or are considered Asian / Pacific Rim nations. The governing body of APQO includes representatives from Australia, Canada, Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, United States of America, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam. The award is sponsored by a foundation established by APQO called The Walter L. Hurd Foundation. Management direction for the award is provided by the Global Performance Excellence Award Executive Committee.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The following requirements must be met in order for an organization to apply for the 2017 GPEA.
  • The Candidates for the award must already have won their National Quality Award within the last 2 years (2015-2016).
  • The National Quality Award Organization/s must recommend Candidates for the Global Performance Excellence Award (GPEA).
  • The National Quality Award Organization or the Candidate must include in its NQA and feedback / site visit report that the GPEA Application documents reflect the organization’s actual operations.
  • Applications must be in Baldrige or EFQM Award Criteria format to the item level with a maximum number of 60 pages plus the feedback / site visit report.

WORLD CLASS:
Maximum points over world class minimum.

BEST OF CLASS:

Given to the organization having the second best points over world class minimum.

QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE:

Given to the organization over world class minimum. 


APPLICATION

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Trained Malcolm Baldrige Award Examiners, using the criteria set by the MBNQA to examiner organizations in the United States, are utilized to evaluate the candidates. Point scores are given in each of the following seven elements:    

Leadership
Stratigic Planning
Customer Focus
Measurement Analysis and Knowledge Management
Workforce Focus
Operation Focus   
Results

Applicants must submit their application form along with the feedback / site visit report addressing all Criteria Items according to the MBNQA requirements. Application can be no longer than 60 pages maximum with no additional documents(Please note that any extra pages and documents submitted over the 60 page limit will be removed from the evaluation)

For electronically sent documents, (Only “Word” or “PDF” files will be acceptable for sending Eligibility Forms, GPEA Applications and National Feedback Reports)

The decision of the GPEA judges is final.

AWARD SCHEDULE
  • Submission of recommended candidates for the award from the National Quality Award Organizations – until February 28, 2017.
  • Submission of applications directly by candidates or by the National Quality Award Organizations to the GPEA Award Administrator – until February 28, 2017 deadline.
  • Submission of Applications & Feedback Reports – Until March 31, 2017
  • Notifications of awards to winners – July 31, 2017
  • Awards presentation at the Conrad Hotel Manila, Pasay City, Philippines during the 23rd APQO / 29th NQF International Conference, November 14, 15, 16 and 17, 2017 hosted by Philippine Society for Quality, Inc. (PSQ)

NOTE 1:
Application and feedback / site visit reports will be destroyed after the evaluation and the presentation of the awards.

NOTE 2:
A maximum of 60 pages will be examioned. any material other than the National Quality Award application (50 pages) and the two Organizational Profiles (5pages each) plus the Feedback Report will be removed from the book.
