Shanghai Magnolia Quality Special Contribution Award

H. James Harrington, a past president and Chairman of the Board for ASQ and the International Academy for Quality, was presented the Shanghai Magnolia Quality Special Contribution Award for his 30 years of support to the Quality Movement in China. Harrington, in his role as Chairman of the International Chapter of ASQ, first started sharing quality methodologies with the China Association for Quality in 1981. He first toured Mainland China lecturing on quality in 1983. Prior to 1981, Harrington had made many visits to Taiwan lecturing on quality.

Harrington has written more than 35 books and many of them have been translated into Chinese. He made many trips to the various provinces in China lecturing on quality systems and teaching classes on quality. This award was the first of its kind given out; it was presented to him on November 1, 2011 at the Shanghai Association for Quality and International Academy for Quality conference.
